Alex Danson Masterclass

Special Offer for Worthing Hockey Club – Alex Danson Masterclass

Alex Danson along with Everyone Active set up the Alex Danson Hockey Academy last year to develop new and exciting opportunities for young people to play Hockey.

Alex wanted to combine her two passions, her love for hockey and inspiring the next generation to play the sport she loves so much, Alex’s aim is to engage over 10,000 new children to Hockey over the next three years.

Part of the Academy includes providing the opportunity for everyone to pick up a hockey stick especially primary aged children with the opportunity to give hockey a go through school engagement and local Hockey Camps.

Alongside this Alex has launched her Alex Danson Masterclasses aimed at hockey players aged 11-18 who are keen to develop their skills further and gain a real insight into what it takes to be full time athlete.

Following the World Cup Alex is running several Masterclasses across the country and would like to provide unique opportunities to a local hockey club for their players to be involved. Alex has planned the masterclasses around a typical day of an England/GB athlete including 2 x specialised technical coaching sessions using Crazy Catch & STX equipment, healthy lunch provided by Merchant Gourmet similar to what athletes would eat, demo and Question & Answer workshop for both Players and Parents.

Alex along with her team of coaches will be delivering the Masterclass at University of Chichester on Thursday 23rd August 2018.

Alex’s offer to Worthing Hockey Club, is for four hockey players to attend the Masterclass for the price of three – 25% off (Each player will be able to attend the Masterclass for £67.50 instead of the promoted price of £90). Unfortunately there are limited places available so will be offered on a first come first served basis. Please note this offer cannot be taken up with existing players booked on the masterclass.

Remembering Peter Saville

It is with great sadness that we have to write that Peter Saville died peacefully at his home, on June 27th, aged 90.

Peter, his wife and family were an integral part of Worthing Hockey Club for well over 50 years.

He was a playing member, committee man and Vice President and was instrumental in the formation of the Gannets XI; a young team augmented by four older players and was also an original member of Worthing Veterans XI, that was formed in 1978.

He always knew all the pubs to visit en route, when returning home from long away fixtures, for which we all say, thank you Peter.

Dear Peter will be sadly missed.

Dearly loved husband of Josephine, much loved Dad to John-Pete, Jane, Paul, Theresa, Anna and Joseph and loving Grandad to eight Grandchildren. Retired Dentist, keen sportsman and highly respected member of the community in Worthing. He will be very sadly missed by all his family and friends.

The Funeral Mass will be held at Saint Mary of the Angels, Crescent Road on Thursday 12th July at 12 noon, followed by burial at Durrington Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations for either CAFOD or St Barnabas House may be sent c/o H D Tribe Ltd 130 Broadwater Road, Worthing BN14 8HU Tel: 01903 249913

Another Successful Easter Tournament

This year’s Easter 7s Charity hockey tournament was a big success raising over £800 for Chestnut Tree House and acting as a fabulous ambassador for how much fun hockey is.

The day was not only hugely entertaining, supported by current WHC members and hockey players but by visiting teams, friends and family who were all not turned off by the autumnal Easter weekend weather.

Hockey is a fantastic sport and our hockey family welcomed in two new converted hockey players who picked up sticks for the first time on the day to play! We look forward to seeing them join us next season.

See you all next year!
