New Season Welcome

Welcome to you all to the new season.

This year’s WHC focus will be on player development and attracting new players into the Club.  We will be increasing the number of coaches available at training sessions and also encouraging people to undertake some formal coaching qualifications.  If you would like to do this please let us know.  We are also looking to put in place a further training session on Thursday evenings although this may not be at Angmering. We will keep you updated on developments.  Training dates at Angmering remain unchanged with Ladies from 7-9 pm on Tuesday, Wolves training from 6-7 pm on Wednesday and Men’s from 7-9 pm on Wednesday.  The Men’s training from 7-9 pm will now be for all team.  There will be some unused pitch time from 6-7 pm on Wednesday which members are welcome to use informally.

We will also be moving to the new kit for all teams from the start of this season.  It is important that we all play in the same colour and design of shirt – so please go onto the Club Shop (via website) and order your shirt.  You should have a Club number which you can get from Carol or Josh

We have also entered a U16 Girls team (Llamas) this year into the Sussex Development League and this will create a sensible development structure enabling our younger players to play against a similar age group and also a team for the players moving up from the Comets. Please volunteer if you would like to help us run this team.

There are some administrative changes this year and you may already have seen some of them.  We will be moving to an electronic system for collecting match fees for all teams using the “Teamo” app.  This was used successfully by one team last year and we have decided that this is a better way forward so that you don’t have to find cash each week.  This is quite straightforward using a smartphone but your team captain will let you know how this works and what you need to do.

One further option is to provide teas centrally for all teams rather than each team providing its own.  We are still waiting for more feedback on this idea but we will make a decision over the next month.  If we did this there would be a small increase to match fees to cover the costs.  Development of the social side to the Club last year was impressive for a first season at a new venue.  We need to build on this – so please use the Clubhouse as much as you can and if you have a big social event please consider whether this will be suitable.

Finally, to continue to move the Club forward – we still need more volunteers to help in a number of areas.  There are things we would like to do this year but they can only be achieved with more help and support.  If you would like to get involved please let us know and get involved in helping us achieve our goals.

Don’t forget that your subscriptions are now due.
