Inspire Sport once again provided the infrastructure and support for the juniors hockey trip to Amsterdam over the bank holiday weekend and half term 29th May – 1st June.
The team of 13 juniors enjoyed a combination of training, matches and organised trips into the city as well as some free time for chilling out and enjoying the atmosphere. Many thanks to the organisers and the 7 parents who supported the trip.
The two matches resulted in 1 win and 1 loss but the standard of hockey was high and challenging for all who took part. Often training is less exiting but the opportunity to watch the GB ladies team in their morning warm up session before the international against Netherlands was an unexpected surprise.
The organised trips to the Van Gogh museum and Body World perhaps held more interest for the adults but kept everyone interested during the remainder of the tour. A chance meeting for one of the team with Michael Portillo (who was on a city tour) was a shock and he may not have been recognised if he wasn’t wearing bright red trousers and a yellow linen jacket!
